Protestant Church

In 1859 the Protestant church was built, with construction lasting until 1863.

Before the current church, since the 30th of October 1785, a prayer house stood at the present-day mouth of the Mühlbach stream.

Catholic Church & Bone House

The church of the Assumption of Mary, also called Mary on the Mountain, is the Roman Catholic parish church of Hallstatt.

The first Catholic church was built no later than 1150. The tower of this church still stands. In 1320, the second, larger Romanesque church was added.

The bone house can be found on the right side of the catholic church, in the back of the cementary.
